Lost in a Maze

While driving through the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on a glorious summer day, I passed the maze, and remembered how it had inspired a scene in A Killing in the Cotswolds.  I had been to the maze many times with my grandson who loved to dash on ahead and wait until he heard me yelling, “Where are you?  Help! Grandma’s lost! Help!” Then he rescued me.  (My sense of direction is not very good at the best of times). This gave me the idea for the climactic scene in the novel.  When I was writing it I came back to look closely at the maze and take photos.  Now I must keep driving.  There are several delightful walks through flower gardens at the Arboretum but because of Covid many sections are closed off and signs remind us Not to Leave Our Vehicle.  I look forward to the time when we can roam freely once again.  And maybe even lose ourselves in the maze.
