A visitor to my website asked, “What on earth is Sisters in Crime?” I suspected she thought it was an unusually bold band of female criminals. In fact, Twin Cities Sisters in Crime, is a group of local mystery writers who support one another and share ideas. This week, our meeting featured Susan Just, a hypnotherapist, who gave a fascinating talk about the use of a “focused state of attention” in pain management, eliminating self-sabotaging behaviors, dealing with PTSD and more. I learned that a lot of my ideas about hypnosis were mistaken and came away with a renewed appreciation of the brain’s complexity.
